Two Derogs

I have 2 derogatory actions that will be 7 years old in July 2010 showing on my EX, they are not on my EQ or my TU.

What are the chances of getting those removed either with a dispute or a GW, which is the better chance if at all.

Re: Two Derogs

At this point it's probably not worth trying to get them removed since they will be falling off of your report in 5 months.  Since they are old derogs the amount they are hurting your score has been dramatically reduced.  Then again... I was reading earlier today how a 60-day dropped off after 7 years caused a 26 point increase.

I wouldn't mess with it! You're too close to having them just go away. While this shouldn't happen, I would be sweating the possibility of them reporting with a new date or something fun like that.

The accounts should continue to report (if they're actual accounts, not judgments, etc) for ten years after they were closed, so that if these negatives were something like lates on a CC, you'll still see the accounts reporting, now clean, helping your age.

Big score jumps typically occur when the last major derog (90+ day late, CO, CA, BK, etc.) comes off, leaving you with completely clean history, other than possibly some 30's. This frustrates those who expect a big score increase each time a major derog comes off, and they might get 3 points or something. It's when the last one goes that it gets really fun.
