I have had a USAA credit card for 25+ years. Since USAA switched the card from Mastercard to Visa (in 2016), credit report is showing a negative factor stating "the date that you opened your oldest account is too recent." Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? We are attempting to rebuild credit and need as many postive factors as possible!!
I'd recommend contacting USAA. They are saying publically this is a non-issue. I highlighted and emphasized certain sections.

Hello and thank you so much for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your Visa credit card account. We truly are truly sorry to hear your disappointment. In your response you mentioned that you have more fees since your account was converted from the MasterCard. Can you please confirm what fees you are referring to so we can specifically address those concerns? For us to address the fees for your specific account, we may need to respond to you in a secure channel via usaa.com.
In regards to your rate increase it is in direct correlation with the Prime Rate changing from 3.50% to 3.75% as of December 14, 2016. The rate increase is based on your Variable interest rate on your USAA credit card as stated in the USAA Credit Card Agreement. The new Annual Percentage Rate (APR) was based on the prime rate published in The Wall Street Journal Dec.15, 2016 plus the margin amount on your specific account. The rate change is reflected in your January statement.
As far as your request for us to lower your Annual Percentage Rate APR), unfortunately USAA is unable to make a manual modification to your current Annual Percentage Rate (APR) because it would change the terms and conditions of the card itself. This limitation is based on the Federal Credit Card Act of 2009, signed into law by former President Obama which mandates no changes can be made to a credit card, which changes the Terms and Conditions of the card.
Shortly before you receive your new Visa card in the mail, the new Visa account will appear on your My Accounts page, in addition to the current MasterCard account. This ensures that we will be able to move all of your account history associated to the Visa account. Make sure you look at the Visa account for the accurate balance on your account or to service your account. You don’t have to continue checking in on the MasterCard account.
Your credit score should NOT be affected in any way by switching to Visa. We are making sure that we report your credit information for your account without interruption. This means that when you check your credit, it will not show that you opened a new credit card account. Your credit report will show the entire length of time that you have had your card as a MasterCard and Visa. Your credit limit will also continue to display on your report like it does today.
We are here to answer any additional questions or concerns you may have and appreciate you allowing us to share this information with you! - Darrell
