Re: Understanding -8 FICO 8 score drop

No I am not. I'm only on my cards.

Re: Understanding -8 FICO 8 score drop

Thanks, I was not aware of the "issue" with Synchrony cards before. I will adjust how I do my AZEO going forward.

@Ficoproblems247 It's my Amazon Synchrony card. Thank you.

There are lots of possibilities. BTW 8 points is not that much.

Some possible causes:

-mortgage inquiries

-increased utilization

-more accounts reporting a balance

BTW Synchrony cards are no good for micromanaging your revolving balances, because

they often report erratically, leaving you no way of knowing which day's balance will report.

Agreed Sync cards are lousy for AZEO because of sporadic reporting. OP's util decreased by $100 however, not increased. Also accounts with balances went from two to one so it's not more accounts reporting with a balance. Also, it was stated inqs remained static at 1 showing on both reports. Either the Sync card messed up the AZEO attempt and OP is getting hit with the all zero penalty, or there is something else at play. OP, have you gone through reports with a fine tooth comb to ensure no older accounts have dropped off of your report causing your AAoA to decrease? That's about the only other thing I can think of, otherwise I'm at a loss.

I have not looked at the entire report, I focused on the cards and what I thought changed. I will go through both in detail and let you know if I see anything else. Thanks all for the feedback so far.

Re: Understanding -8 FICO 8 score drop

What date was the mortgage HP? There is a buffering factor for mortgage and auto loan hard pulls (when coded correctly) that prevent them from impacting your credit score for 30 days. Depending on the date of the HP it may have shown on your report the prior month but not affected the score yet.

If that is not the case, then I think a deeper comparison of your reports is warranted to check for anomalies.

@Ficoproblems247 . I've looked through every other detail. Only change is what I described earlier.

@AnonymousThe HP was on July 22nd! I hope this has to be the driver!

It sounds like it was likely the cause for the drop. The cost of a HP is dependent on a number of factors in a profile, but an 8 point drop is in the range of point losses expected for a HP.

Using my Sync Amazon as my AZEO card costs me points, presumably because it is a store card.

I have tested that several times and and it gives me about half of the all zero penalty.
