Update on auto refinance question

Last month I had posted a question asking if it would help if I re-financed my auto loan to pay down my HELOC. I just wanted to let anyone who was involved in that discussion that I just checked my Equifax FICO and it went from 687 one month ago to 727 today. A 40 point gain! I'm pretty excited. Thanks to everyone on here who gave me advice.

Re: Update on auto refinance question

Wow! Every now and again, we get to see some great stuff from reducing revolving util. Congrats, that's great!

For those who missed the original thread, here it is:

Should I re-finance auto loan to pay down revolving balances to boost FICO score?

And for those who don't read the original post, the reason that this worked is because OP's HELOC CL was only $15k, so it was being included in his revolving util. If a HELOC CL is more like $40-$50K+, it's excluded from revolving util, just as are most high-limit credit cards, and paying it down or off wouldn't have an appreciable affect on scores.
