Utilization impact on CS

Anyone know at what utilization percent they truly saw the biggest impact to their CS? I'm at about 12% and wonder if i'll see any more CS gains paying that off?

Any time you lower your utilization you will see raises in your credit score.  Ideal utilization is one card at a minimal balance and the rest at $0.

Re: Utilization impact on CS

The thread might get moved to understanding fico scoring board...but I'll try to help...for each person it's individual, like for instance someone that has 20 cards with only 1 reporting 1% utl each month may see the same scoring increase/decrease as someone with 3 cards reporting 0% each month...the reason, your whole profile comes into play...AAOA, Length of credit history, payment history, any dergog/negatives reporting....It's like a big circle that comes together...Your 12% is it one card or multiples...you might want to play with it if it's multiples...pif one card and see if there's an increase or decrease when it reports...and tbh  each CRA is going to treat that same change a bit different cause each CRA doesn't usually match to a tee...like right now TU is my trailing CRA...when I get updates that my cards have reported changes then pull them to look...TU never matches...somehow I think lenders IMO don't care for TU lol and vice versa...

Overall it's going to be such a vast difference in everybody..like sometimes the higher your score..the bigger the impact on scoring increases/decreases especially if it's something deemed negative like going over the suggested 10% or 30% reporting utl.

Hope this helps

Re: Utilization impact on CS

Understanding that paying on time is a given, meaning that B/C 98.2% of CC holders can and do meet the minimum goal of making an on time payment.

The biggest impact left, at 30% of the score, double the next issue (15%) aging/ history...so Utilization is where the HAY is made.

Ideal is a minimal amount of cards reporting at all and those that do are under 10% ... again with at least one showing a balance.

Re: Utilization impact on CS

Thanks. Yes, this helps. My utilization is spread across three cards with one card carrying the majority. Just curious if I get below a certain utilization percent if folks saw any particularly large impact to their CS at a given % point. Guess not, so I'll keep watching my scores as I pay down my 12%.

Re: Utilization impact on CS

C'mon John there is NO MAGIC % bro!

Keep it under 10% and live, your life man...

Don't over stress over the uncontrollable,
#3 on the list is history/aging or TIME... that's next on the list, just gotta ride it out.

You can't skip the line....there is only an 'A' when it comes to utilization ratio no 'A+' ... available.

Now you know you can stop stressing this issue and focus on something else.

Best wishes

You should see boosts as it keeps going down. Then, once under say around 5% there are some who say there is a sweet spot where they get the max points, depending on your profile.

I have an old datapoint that 10% aggregate was a breakpoint when still had granular EQ Beacon 5.0 monitoring; I can't test that anymore unfortunately but it was a different amount than the ~100% individual utilization I tested later which suggests there may well be a change at 10% but it was a comparitively minor one on my file... 14 points between maxxed tradeline and aggregage >10% on Beacon 5, yay.
