WTH score increased 100 points in less than a week!!!

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum, been lurking for awhile but I have a question.  I've been trying to bring up my score since Jan, I've decreased my utilzation to below 12% on CC, PFD on my 1 collection, I disputed a 30, 60 & 90 day late on my HSBC card which is still pending (expires 3/29/12).  I've been waiting for it all to update.  So Tuesday MYFICO EQ score was 568, today MYFICO EQ score is 668 & TU 661!!!  I want to be excited but the disputes are still pending in the report (Customer disputes/reinvestingating) showing I still have a 30, 60 & 90 day late, but on the summary page it shows I have no lates or no negative indicators.  Is there just a lag in HSBC removing the lates in the account but reported it to the bureaus?  Does this mean the dispute will be favorable but they just have not notified me yet?  Any info appreciated.  thx!

Re: WTH score increased 100 points in less than a week!!!

Hello. Welcome to myFICO.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), portions of an OC account under dispute will not be scored by FICO. Among these are the balance, the CL, and the payment history. Other items like AAoA, scoring bucket, mix of credit, acct age, etc. including CAs and PRs, are not removed or impacted by a dispute.

So your score is likely to adjust once again when the disputes are resolved depending on what (if anything) is permanently removed.

Re: WTH score increased 100 points in less than a week!!!

Ok well that seems weird to me that if this is a temporary increase why wait until the dispute has only 5 days left  to be resolved.  My score has not changed at all since the dispute was initiated on 2/28 thx!

Let's hope you win the dispute and keep the points.  If you don't there are other methods to attempt to get lates removed.

Re: WTH score increased 100 points in less than a week!!!

Ditto to MarineVietVet. It's a blessing and a curse at the same time. You can see how much these accounts hurt score-wise, but at the same time all of the points will disappear, and sometimes then some, if verified. It gives a false sense of security, IMO. It also look like you disputed 3 accounts at least. The # of accounts with a negative indicator changed from 3 to 0. HSBC would be one, but you'd have two more on your Accounts page at least that you disputed, since the total number of accounts remained the same. A combination of these accounts impact your score by as much as 100 pts. If verified, you know what to target and approx what gain you'd see if fixed.

Re: WTH score increased 100 points in less than a week!!! UPDATED

UHHHHH!! I just want to cry now because I have no idea what my true score will actually be Smiley Sad

Two updates were made on my report a PFD for $50 and one credit card finally updated my utilization to 7% so now my EQ score is 763 and TU is 721, my Walmart TU is 717.

Btw I noticed that the remark "Consumer disputes this account" changed from "Consumer disputes-reinvestigation in progress" on the same day that the EQ dispute was due to be completed.  It is still pending, but do you think I will be able to win the dispute and have the lates permanently removed since they went past the completion date?  HELP!

Why do you think the lates should fall off?  They look like they were from 6-9 months ago.  As to whether or win your dispute or not, who knows.

Re: WTH score increased 100 points in less than a week!!! UPDATED

Good luck to you as well How2Increase.  I was able to keep the EQ 763 & TU 717, but the lates were CONFIRMED?? and the comment of Account disputed by consumer remains.  I emailed HSBC and after speaking with a rep from executive resolutions was not able to receive a goodwill.  I also asked the rep to remove the dispute comment, so I dont know if that will decrease my score.  Looking on the bright side my scores were EQ 668 & TU 661 after all the collections and 9% usage updated, so if I go back down to that Im still good, take care Smiley Happy
