Hi everybody -
I've got a weird scoring situation that I'd like everybody's opinion on. The spouse and I have just done a joint application for a new car. When they pulled the spouse's score, we confirmed that it was a 759 - the same as the score here on MyFICO. When they pulled mine, however, it came back as a 698, whereas my score here on the three-bureau monitoring is 658. Why would the MyFICO score be the same for my spouse here, but not for me?
I'm a little perplexed .... interested in input!
Can you ask the dealer what version's of Fico they pulled?
They said they didn't know ....
There are a lot of different types of credit scores, from FICO to proprietary scores, for each of the credit reporting bureaus — Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Car dealerships typically pull auto-enhanced scores from up to all three reporting bureaus
It wasn't a car dealership that pulled. It was a credit union.
You should get an electronic disclosure for the score. It will tell you which version they used. IMO a credit union should be able to tell you precisely what score they used... Especially the Underwriter. Which credit unions almost always have on site.
They do know what model they use. When the bank pull your credit it shown on the paper that pull what version they are using. I just did my re-finance my car loan and borrow a small personal loan.
DCU credit union used Fico 04 Beacon 5.0 which pull from Equifax which make my score very low 602, However I went with Worker Credit Union and RTN Credit Union they both used FICO 98 risk 2 Verson which an older version the Fico 04. My score from RTN was 714 and score from Worker is 715 FICO score. I request a copy of my credit report from them thats how I know what version model they are using.
***IMPORTANT*** Best way to do before applying or pull your credit ask the lender what model version of FICO they are using and from what Credit Bureaus. For me I know my Experian FICO score are high so I will alos use the bank that pull from Experian. NOt sure about FICO 8.
