What date do you go by?

There are several dates listed on the cr.  Is it the date of last activity?  That's the one I've been using to determine when an account will be off my record.

Thanks

Re: What date do you go by?

On mine it apears to be the last activity last reported date.

Re: What date do you go by?

The "date of first delinquency" starts the 7 1/2 year clock ticking for collection accounts.  This is the month when you missed your last payment.  If you pay in April 2006, May 2006, skip or pay late in June 2006, pay in July 2006, skip August 2006 and never make another payment ... then August 2006 is your DOFD.  Add 7.5 years, and the tradeline should drop off in Feb. 2014.

Irrelevant dates: date of last activity; date reported; date assigned to collection agency.

If you have a TransUnion report, they figure it out for you, which is handy.  It's at the end of the entry.
