I am applying for a cc next month. I had it planned out where only one of my 4 CCs would report a balance. My CreditOne was supposed to have a 0 balance, but when the statement cut, they charged me interest. Apparently they have no grace period.
So here's 2 possible scenarios. Which would be best for my score?
#1
-2 CCs reporting a balance (2.6% and 1.4% util individually)
-overall util at 1.3%
#2
-1 CC reporting a balance (1.4% util individually)
-overall util at 0.6%
If I was to go with Option #2, I would have to pay an extra $10 in order to have FP report a 0 balance. CreditOne has already cut so I can't do anything about that. FP cuts in about a week.
IMO, I would say option 2. The less CCs reporting balances the better FICO likes it.
I'd say option 2 for FICO 04 scores. Either one for FICO 08.
Just based on my experience.. so to be safe, I'd go with option 2.
Thanks to both.
I know BOA pulls Experian but I'm not sure if it's 04 or 08 scores.
Another question, the best util is achieved at util at 1-9% right? So if I go with option #2, I'd basically be at 0% util unless FICO rounds to 1%?
Thoughts?
If there is any balance on a card, you will always get rounded up to 1%.
BOA recently pulled Experian FICO 08 Classic on me. You can see a table on my signature #2 who pulled what.
Thanks.
Previous letters from BOA state they used EX but nothing more. I will play it safe and go with #2.
