What's the best report to see when an item is sched to fall off credit?

Does anyone know the best report to view the date the item is scheduled to drop from report? I remember seeing this on one of the online reporting systems but can't remember which one it is!??

Hi Someday. Not sure I understand fully, but here goes. You will see the most detail on your free credit reports, like the ones you get from annual credit report dot com. EX happens to show the most useful detail out of the three. Both EX & TU show drop dates (EQ doesn't seem to like to show that detail).

From limited experience, only TU has shown me a drop off date (granted, there is only ONE account I am looking to drop off).  Today, I called EX and EQ and asked "So when is this scheduled to drop off?"

Both CRA CSRs responded "7 years."  When I asked if they could please confirm that it should actually be FIVE years because it was  paid charge-off and I live in NY, they each corrected themselves and suggested that the month after the five year limit expires that I send a dispute in order to make sure that it actually does drop off.

I guess I expected that the CRAs would grok state laws.  Silly me.

SO, I would call and find out what the scheduled drop date is.  Long way of answering a simple question, eh?

atlast...

There was your first mistake. Smiley Tongue

Seriously, though, I've found that the CRAs are a little jumpy about letting baddies continue to report for those of us who are lucky enough to live in a state with a five-year CRTP for paid CAs and COs.  I had a CA vanish from EX and EQ way before it should have when my CR address was updated to a NY address, and it wasn't even paid.

A friend of mine who also lives in NYS had a paid repo deleted about one year early as well, completely out of the blue, with no dispute or anything.  I don't think it's a coincidence.

I just called and said "This is not a dispute, I just need to verify the scheduled drop date for one account."  Neither CRA CSR knew about (or they played blonde) the five year FCRA rule for NYS residents.

With any luck, it'll drop a bit early.  Crossing my fingers.
