What score does Experian give you when applying for credit?

Got a Kohls denial, in the letter it states my score is 679 and very next line reads "scores range from 501 to a high of 990", I was under the impression fico doesn't go higher then 850?

Kohls is one of the rare few that use VantageScore instead of FICO.

There are a few FICO scores that go above 850 including some industry specific versions that go to 900 and both FICO Nexgen Scores go past 850.

HOWEVER, a range of 501 to 990 will tell you that the score quoted by Kohl's is one of the Vantage Score versions, which is not a FICO based score at all.
