Why I think FICO 9 doesn’t like me.

Why I think FICO 9 doesn’t like me.

My EX FICO 9 was 656 on 4/4/18. Meanwhile, my EX FICO 8 was 694 on that date. I have no derogs on my credit reports. Here’s my hypothesis. My oldest account is over 15 years and AAoA was 11 years 8 months on 4/4. However, I had 4 accounts and three of them are student loans that were rehabilitated. Those student loans are only reporting 5 months payment history. I think that while FICO 8 is counting my long credit history, FICO 9 is looking at the fact that I don’t have even 6 months payment history on most of my accounts.

What do you guys think?

Did we ever establish whether you have any revolving credit cards reporting any balance? Those scores seem really low, for no derogatories.

Note (perhaps you already know this) that at least one credit card / revolving card reporting is necessary to help your basic FICO 8, likely basic FICO 9. It gives the scoring model something to work with.

High Bal Jan 2009 $116k on $146k limits 80% Util.
Oct 2014 $46k on $127k 36% util EQ 722 TU 727 EX 727
April 2018 $18k on $344k 5% util EQ 806 TU 810 EX 812

Delta Reserve and CSP Jan 2018, no more 5/24 worries... unless new Chase Marriott/SPG replacement is enticing...meh, turns out not. [unless a 100k points SPG Luxury Upgrade appears... well lookie here...]

No open credit cards as of 4/4/18. Just one closed credit card.

I would say that you identified the probem right there.  Perhaps FICO 09 gives a greater score hit to profiles without a single open revolver.

My EX FICO 9 won’t update until May 4th, but I’ll see what score it updates to after these CCs are added and let you know.
