Hello All!
Just wondering why my score goes up after a new inquiry is posted. The last three inquires have made my score go up 4-7 points each. Im not complaing, but kinda confused by it. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Almost certainly it is not the actual inquiry making the score go up. There are limited numbers of things that trigger a score change. For example if you consistently pay before the statement close day, the oks on your report arent being factored in. A creditor reporting ok with no balance change doesn't trigger fico to update score here. So lets say you either had a 0 balance for a month on 4 of your cards or paid before statement day...those 4 new oks arent being scored until something causes the update. Whether thats a balance change, inquiry, new account, whatever. The inquiry causes the update, but the new unupdated info gets built into that score change.
If the score went up 5 points on an inquiry, you were prob up 8 points before it and minus 3 for the inquiry = Fico score +5 for new inquiry.
Sometimes my score will increase with a new inquiry and sometimes it will decrease and other times, it's unaffected. Not sure what determines this.

Exactly right. An inquiry by itself will never make your score up. It justs triggers the alert and reporting.
