Why do I get different fico scores for transunion

I did the free fico score w/ transunion on walmart and got a 647.  Then I bought the quarterly transunion fico score from my fico and got 628?  Why am I seeing a 20pt difference?

Starting Score: 615

Re: Why do I get different fico scores for transunion

TU score you get through Walmart is called TU08 (a newer version of TU FICO).  TU score you get here is TU98 (an older version).

Unfortunately, the score that is mostly widely used is neither of those, but TU04.

Thanks, how do I find out what my TU04 is and how do I know what the lender is using?

You would have to get your FICO TU04 from a creditor.   Mortgage lenders pull TU04.    In terms of other creditors, you'll just have to ask what score they pull....

Do you know - is TU04 typically higher or lower than TU98?  Or is it basically all over the map?

Starting Score: 732 (EQ)
Current Score: EQ 08 - 837! Whoo!! (5/14/14);EQ 04 - 795! (5/15/14) 748 (TU - 5/21/12); 760 (EX - 4/16/12 AMEX pull)
Original Goal Score: 760+ EQ --> decimated!
New Goal Score: Just keep swimming...

lol, good one.  But where can we find how things are weighed differently across the different formulas?

There are many threads here that discuss, do a search on TU98 or TU04 and you should be able to find several.

This is from the wally world website:

(. The credit score you’ll receive each month is exactly the same FICO score that would cost you $19.95 a pop to purchase through myFICO.com, so this is really an awesome benefit Walmart is providing their cardholders.)
