My Home depot, Chase, Discover and old navy as well as my sears mastercard (not the store card) simply do NOT show up on my EQ report, I called the companies they claim they report to all 3 but never shows up and evry billing cycle I check again...
1. how can this be?
2. What can I do about it? its not like they DON'T report to EQ, they claim they DO.
^ Agreed, a split file might be the culprit. Others with 1st hand knowledge can comment on how to confirm split file status. I know this can happen for multiple reasons not inquiry specific.
@Hex - I have never heard of this happening due to size of file. How did you find out that your file was split? Also, did the split file impact your score?
No very very very few inquires at all soft or hard... can I ASK them if I have a split file? will they tell me?

Read many articles, print out the best ones, highlight key passages, take notes, and create a paper folder that contains your research. Then you may need to contact EQ after you have researched next steps.
Always be very friendly with every customer service rep even if they seem to have no idea what a split file is or if they seem unhelpful. Be prepared to call multiple times over a few weeks till you finally find someone who understands.
I would also check your name address and SSN are the on those accounts as they are on the ones reporting on the Equifax credit report. Split files in general are caused most of the time by name, address and SSN issues. The credit bureaus do not identify you by SSN alone they use name address (current and former) and SSN and generation code (if any IE JR Sr etc).
