Hello. I notice that several times MyFico has shown one Visa credit card account as reporting twice for same date. I wonder if this explains in part the ding I got for some high balances this month (we pay in full each month).
Specifically the "CHASE BANK" account (I show as "1234" below) shows reporting the same balance on same date, December 19.
Note that my FICO was at 809 in November. Then in past few days it dropped to 799, 791, then 789.
So my FICO has been reported 3 times in past few days, and there have been 3 credit alerts as well. I assume that these "match up". But why would CHASE BANK report same amount twice for same date, for which it seems that I have been dinged twice?
11-28 809 Score Watch(r) alert: Your score exceeded your target of 807
12-18 799 Score Watch(r) alert: Your score dropped below your target of 809
12-19 791 Score Watch(r) alert: Your score has dropped
12-23 789 Score Watch(r) alert: Your score has dropped
The most recent credit alerts are:
12-19 CHASE BANK USA NA (XXXXXXXXXXXX1234) New balance: $2,313
12-19 CHASE BANK USA NA (XXXXXXXXXXXX1234) New balance: $2,313
12-23 WELLS FARGO (XXXXXXXXXXXX1234) New balance: $143
TIA for your comments.
codedoctor, the same thing happened to me as well last month. It was also on a Chase Visa account, the Freedom card.
I don't know why it happened, but interestingly enough, I got an unsolicited CLI on this card at about the same time. Chase had cut another CL on a different card I have with them by over $20K just a few months ago.
The double reporting will disappear next month. Mine did.
This month, a Wachovia account is also reporting twice for me, I'm thinking it has to do with some internal bookkeeping as Wells Fargo merges things into their system. Double reporting on a Signature card I have that originated with Wachovia.
I wouldn't worry about it. It'll fix itself.
A very Merry Christmas to you and yours!

The way to eliminate any ding you may get from double reporting is to pay your balances before your statements cut. It's not necessary to do this unless you are tweaking your FICOs, but at least it eliminates the double-reporting ding.
It's not just Chase. I just got an alert that my credit union visa reported a balance, twice. I know for a fact it is only on my credit report once.
Just received 2 ScoreWatch alerts on the 4th for my USAA account:

Hi GUK, and welcome to the FICO Forums.
I'd like to point out that this thread is over a year old - how did you ever find it? - and thus it is unlikely that you'll get replies specific to the issue that arose in December 2009.
Having said that, I can't quite understand what you mean by your comment. Did you want to clarify?
