AFter reviewing my FICO score and seeing it is VERY low --- How does this happen when I own my own home, do not have car payments, not late with payments? I would expect it to be much higher --- How do I make it higher

Check your revolving utilization. That is, how much you owe on CCs vs your CLs on the cards (both individually and overall). High util will kill your scores.

The only way we can give advice is if you list all of your open accounts on your credit report.

....so if by "own my own home" you mean it is paid for and no auto loans means you aren't using credit.
