One reason is that when something is disputed, it may no longer count in your score calculation. You may have lost the age of the account in your history or average age of accounts (AAoA).

How long ago was the dispute? Was it a collection account? Can you tell if they have updated the status or the date of last activity? If they did, it's possible that this could be looking as if it is a more recent collection (if it still counts for scoring).

Has something else changed on the report? Are there larger balances on your credit cards?

Without the details of your credit report, it's tough to give an answer.

Are these collection agency accounts, or are they still with the original creditor?

Did you dispute both of these accounts? If so, why?

Updating last activity can make an account look newer...but updating wouldn't be the reason for your score drop.

Re: Why my credit score drop went i open new dispute?HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP

I understand your frustration. This happened to me as well. BoA son of a b*tch opened a dispute on my credit file without letting me know, because of a $70 disputed charge. I didn't even know they could do this. As a result my FICO dropped over 20 points. It took them over 2 month and multiple phone calls to close the dispute, and my FICO score did NOT come back. It did come back points by points over the past few month, but not all in one shot when the dispute is closed. I don't know why, but I'm just giving you the facts here.
