I don't think under the new Fico 08 rules that you can be added as an AU and get the benifit anymore.  I beleive that you have to be added as a joint Account

Yes, who knows when FICO 08 will actually be implemented?  Maybe this year for EX and TU, maybe not.

We do know, however, that EQ won't be implementing until their lawsuit with FICO is resolved, which is unlikely to happen this year or probably even next year.....

chrissy..............yep, do it.

I added my sister as an AU on my 2 AMEX accounts and she increased her scores 50 points.

Re: adding me to hubby's Sears acct

Absolutely do it! I added on as AU on DH's almost 19-year-old Discover, and even without the credit limit, the history was great for my EQ and TU scores. (I have one older account on EX alone.)

There's no telling when FICO 08 will finally stagger into action --maybe next week, maybe next year, maybe never. And even when it does, each individual lender will have to decide to make the switch, so that AU account should help for an indefinite period of time. In the meantime, keep working on your "real" credit picture, and use the increased score to improve what you've got.

I've decided not to switch over to joint until my back is up against the wall. What I have is working fine for now.

Re: adding me to hubby's Sears acct

I will go the low road here and say use caution.

My view is that DH/DW should not mix credit and both should establish their own history.

If you have a specifc credit goal in mind that would benefit from the score increase, that would be one thing but my fear is that your score could drop later on down the road when FICO 08 hits.

American Express and BofA are known to practice Universal Default so I would again caution you if you have those type of accounts.

Go for it.  FICO08, and its elimination of AUs,  is not established, and may never be.  In the interim, the worst that could happen is that you wil back to where you are now.  A no-brainer, if the party is willing to add you as an AU.

Re: adding me to hubby's Sears acct

IF non-AU counting does ever cpome, the CCCs will have to take that into consideration.  There will be a bunch of score changes, and they can't AA them all!

And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: adding me to hubby's Sears acct

So does anyone know if the CCC would need to run my husband's CR if I add him as joint user as opposed to just an AU on my credit card? Furthermore if I add as joint will the CCC likely perform a hard inquiry or soft if they indeed perform an inq? I have a Orchard Bank Card.
