descrepancy between reports? Confused

Hello, hopefully someone can help me get tot he bottom of this...we are in the process of trying to buy a house and am looking at our credit from a couple different sources to keep on top of things since I have had a lot of "fix-up" activity lately.

Anyway...

I pulled a 3 bureau report from experian because its only $14.95. I also pulled a MyFico EQ and TU.

I also GW'd Wells Fargo for my DW's blemishes.

When I pull the EX 3 bureau, it shows WF to not have any lates listed. On the MyFico EQ, no baddies listed, but on the MyFico TU, the baddies are still there.

Which source can I beleive? I know about the EX Fakos, but is that true about the underlying data too? I would think that the data would be accurate on both.

Any ideas what could be happening?

Start 6/16 EX 582 TU 578 EQ 554
Current 8/5 EX 700 TU 711 EQ 651

Re: descrepancy between reports? Confused

Every CRA maintains their own database... there is not a single source for information. Items can be deleted from one report, and not the other two. It happens all the time. I have some accounts that only report on EQ, and some that reports on only TU. Lenders have to pay to submit their data, so some will just report to 1 agency to save money.

Starting Score: 627 EQ, 621 TU - 11/15/08
Current Score: 778 EQ, 781 TU, 778 EXP 07/20/12 Lender Pull
Goal Score: 800 EQ & TU

Re: descrepancy between reports? Confused

I understand that they are all updated seperately, and all dont have the same info, but if I pull a 3-bureau report from experian, which is supposed to show what each bureau is reporting, should the underlying data not be correct?

I just called TU and they show that the baddies were still on their records so i am disputing them.

OK, so just to clarify, on the 3-bureau pull from Experian, the lates don't show on the TU report, but they do show on the TU report that you get from here?

One problem with credit monitoring services is that sometimes the data from the underlying "real" report (the one maintained by the credit bureau) doesn't map over properly to the third-party report. Things display "funny", or don't show up at all.

+1

The problem extends not only to the data itself, but also to how it is presented by the vendor of the commercial credit report.

Many do really confusing things, such as grouping OC account data and information under a collection heading, making it appear that the debt collector has reported information that they did not, in fact, report.  A common situation is the listing of monthly derogs under a collection heading.  Debt collectors dont report monthly delinquencies, and while the vendor of the commercial credit report may feel they are doing a service by listing the OC account delinquencies that led up to the collection under the collection account heading, it leads many to assume that the debt collector reported this information.

For that reason, I always order my free annual report from annualcreditreport.com once a year, staggering them three months apart, one from each CRA.

Those credit reports are free of most, but not all, of the common formatting problems, and usually include more detail.
