does checking my own score hurt me?

I'm at 686 and need to get to 700 to refinance

I'm going to pay my CC's down to zero before the end of the month and see if that does it

but when I check my scores to see if it put me over 700 will that count against me so that when my bank checks my score will be lower?

Re: does checking my own score hurt me?

Checking your score will have no effect on your credit report. Pulling your own credit report/credit score is a soft pull, which are only visible by you.

Re: does checking my own score hurt me?

Wont hurt your FICO score but LOL it might raise your blood pressue.

A few points:

Make sure you get your credit score here.

You would get the best score boost in paying off all your CCs except 1 and leave a small balance (9% or less on it).  You dont have to pay interest, you just need the small balance to report.

Some CCCs are slow to report PIF balances, so it may take 2 billing cycles for the 0 balance to report.  GEMB is bad about that so you must allow time for the balance to report.
