Your score doesn't really exist until someone pulls it, and it's calculated from information on your credit report, so it's not a question of myFICO updating your score, it's a question of the CRA's updating your report information, which can take anywhere from 24 hours to about 30 days, depending on when the change occurred and whether or not the lender reported the change immediately or at a statement-cutting date.

Once your reports reflect the most current information, any score pulled based on that should reflect the corresponding change.

Hope this helps.

Re: fico updates

Hi,

Okay, on 04/15/2009 - I had a huge baddie removed 7102.00 - however when I pulled my report on the 17th it did not show an increase in my score.  So does this mean it could take up to 30 days?

Sorry, Im trying to understand.

Thank you,

K

The derog might have been so old it ceased to hurt your score therefore no bump when it was removed. If that was your only baddie it opens up higher scores for you going forward. When? Who knows?

Okay - where did you pull the report?  Are we sure we're talking FICO scores here and not FAKOs?

If the report and accompanying score you pulled was pulled from here and showed the baddie gone, then I'll have to step back and let our scoring gurus put in their two cents on why you didn't see an improvement.

If we're talking reports and scores from elsewhere, then please tell me exactly where you got your report and/or score.

Re: fico updates

I pulled it from myfico.com and it still shows the same score that it did when the baddie was there.  The baddie is gone now but the score is still the same ;(

Thank you !

Okay - thanks.

Smallfry's post may well be correct, or it could be any of many things that kept that deleted baddie from improving your score.

I'll have to step aside for our members who are more savvy in the details of scoring; sorry I'm not more help!

Re: fico updates

Do you have other, more recent, and equally or more severe baddies? If so, they are probably driving your scores.

It's still important to get the older stuff off, especially in lenders' eyes, but any time you can get newer and/or worse derogs off, you're more likely to see some score improvement.

It's when the very last one falls off that most people see big jumps.
