freecreditscore

I seem to recall having stumbled across mentions of Experian's www.freecreditscore.com on myfico, but now that I'm looking for them, I can't find any! Where are they?

Go to https://www.creditscorecard.com to get a Free FICO Score 8 credit score based upon your Experian credit report.  It is owned by Discover, but there is no need to have a Discover card nor a savings/checking card with Discover.

Re: freecreditscore

So Experian's freecreditscore.com = Discover's creditscorecard.com?

No sir if I am not mistaken.  Experian's website that you referred to is owned by Experian Consumer Direct.

Re: freecreditscore

Consumerinfo.com Inc, is the company behind freecreditreport.com, freecreditscore.com and the free monthly report from experian.com.

If you create your account to check your Experian report once a month on experian.com/freecreditreport, then you can't open an account on freecreditscore.com, they will say that you already have an account (the one at experian.com/freecreditreport).

If you don't have an account to check your report on experian.com or freecreditreport.com, then you can open an account with freecreditscore.com and get a free report and score based on Experian information each month.

Re: freecreditscore

Is the freecreditscore score provided a FICO 08 score just like the one from creditscorecard from Discover?

Yes, FICO 08 score just like creditscorcard from Discover.

So you could wait 15 days after your freecreditscore to visit creditscorecard and have 2 free EX FICO 08 scores a month.

From visiting both sites, creditscorecard will update after 30 days on login, so if you wait until day 45, that day the score will be updated. The freecreditscore, freecreditreport and experian report (score) is updated every month even if you don't login that exact day.

Re: freecreditscore

I apologize, but I got kinda lost in that discussion.  Is there a single one stop shop that will give me both a free Experian credit report (once per month) and a free Experian FICO 8 score (also once per month)?

I know of two separate places I can get each, but it might be nice to have both at one place, especially for a beginner.

freecreditscore will give you EX report and FICO 08 score, once a month.

EDIT: the problem is that if you already have a freecreditreport or experian.com account that gives you a free report, then you will not be able to get a new account with them. I read in a blog a way to 'delete' the current account and get access to freecreditscore.

This is right, and the authentication system with EX is a confusing mess as you intimate: actually the Discover creditscorecard is also a partnership with Experian, and yup, you guessed it, has the same sort of authentication fun.

I didn't see it mentioned here but it also has a monitoring solution: namely, I've taken two inquiries on EX recently, one with Chase, and one with First Tech CU, and both reported in about a minute; also it did catch when the lien got put back on.  Top shelf so far monitoring solution, the First Tech will be a new tradeline but I suspect it'll catch that just fine too.  And it's all free.

I'm actually really happy with the freebie EX service: that's really the only bureau I care about outside a mortgage or maybe car loan, and CK is good enough for the other two.  I don't think the Discover one has the full monitoring solution and I think there you get a presentation of the data rather than an actual report?  The free EX one is miles better than anything else except CK as far as free services go in my opinion.

When I'm talking long term credit monitoring whenever I find something else to do with my time than this hobby, I probably just use that + CK and I'm basically done.
