what is the difference to your age of account when you open an account early or late in the month?
some cards have a closing/reporting date early in the month, and some have it late in the month.
for example, if i open a card on 8/25/2019, if it first reports on 10/20/2019, is that seen as a 2 month age? counts as aug & sep.
and if opening it on 9/8/2019 then it would count as just 1 month age?
or does it go by the statements issued or what.

First, your Statement Close date, or the date the account reports to the credit bureaus has nothing to do with the Account Age calculation. Once an account has been reported to the credit bureaus those dates are irrelevant to how its age is calculated.
Account Age is calculated in months, and it is increased by one month on the first day of a new month. It does not matter when an account was created, once the 1st of a new month occurs the account's age is incremented by 1 month. So for example, if you open an account on September 30, the algorithm counts it as one month old on October 1.
OK so keep in mind that while the CRBs calculate from the first of the month, individual lenders can calculate such things as number of accounts opened in the last 24 months by using the exact account open date. Also inquiry scoring is done by the inquiry date
thanks guys this is really important to know.
how about when the AAoA is calculated, and it becomes a fractional value?
my cards are 6mo and 3mo now, so if i add some today it would probably look like this next month:
1 new: 7mo + 4mo + 1mo = 4mo
2 new: 7mo + 4mo + 1mo + 1mo = 3.25mo
3 new: 7mo + 4mo + 1mo + 1mo + 1mo = 2.8mo (is this truncated to 2mo, or rounded up to 3mo???)
