how to dispute with scorewatch?

Scorewatch showed the credit score dropping by 12 points! It also suggested that score decrease may be caused by opening a new credit account.

However, I didn't open any credit account recently. How can I dispute to Equifax with Fico score? Do I need to get a credit report to dispute?

Thanks for any advice.

The SW alert should have given you the name of the new credit account. If it doesn't, then you should pull your EQ report to see if there is anything new.

My experience has been that even when there is no significant changes to my credit profile, my score can bounce around a bit for no obvious reason. I just received notice of a 15 point increase with no credit alert, which offsets a 15 point decrease last week when my American Express balance went from $200 to $296.

Re: how to dispute with scorewatch?

The "possible reasons" that you get on alerts are frequently completely wack and out of left field.

It's probably a random change --you had higher balances than usual report (even if you pay them off every month, etc.)

The score is generated by what's on your reports, period. Whatever your lenders reported, that gets crunched by the computers, and ptui, there's your score.

If something inaccurate is on your report, you'll need to contact Equifax, the owner of your EQ report.

But don't freak out about the "possible reasons." Scorewatch needs to drop that nonsense PDQ.
