i tried buying my scores here but according to myfico i dont have a credit score because of no open accounts i applied for a capitol one credit card monday and was approved for 300.00. i am an AU on one of my moms accounts it is not reporting though. does anyone know how long it takes before i would have a fico score? i would like to apply for one more card just so i have two open accounts, just not sure where to apply at yet.
What are the minimum requirements for a FICO score?
There's really not much to it; in order for a FICO® score to be calculated, a credit report must contain these minimum requirements:
- At least one account that has been open for six months or more
- At least one undisputed account that has been reported to the credit bureau with in the past six months
- No indication of deceased on the credit report (Please note: if you share an account with another person this may affect you if the other account holder is reported deceased).
So: your new account has to hit six months old, it has to have been reported for six months, and don't die.
Hi ts2010,
Have you checked out the Credit Card Center, blue tap at the top, next to community.
Take the time to find out what increase your CS,like paying on time and having low balances. Also find out what hurts your CS,late payments, high balances. The blue taps at the top (Financial Help Center and Education) will help you with that information.
CS's can effect what job you can get, what car you drive and the roof over your head. Also the CC and loans you will be approved for.Oh and lets not forget, the car/house insurance primums. Here's a thread I think you may enjoy to read called Sage Advice..http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/Sage-Advice-Things-I-have-learned-on-my-road-...
A FICO Score is a very important number in your life, you take care of it and it will take care of you.
This is my experience...
Four months ago I had no open accounts, two closed accounts in good standing since 1994 and I was an AU on 5 of my wife's cards (all reporting and the oldest being 10 years old). I did not have a Transunion score, however I did generate a Equifax and Experian score. In August I opened a MC and a store card about two weeks apart. When the first one reported (before I even received the card) Transunion produced a score almost immediately and 764 at that. When the store card reported I lost 7 points.
Thanks for the information. I only have 3 accounts on my credit report all closed over 2.5 years ago. They were 1 paid medical collection. 2 credit cards that were very late but are paid and closed as of June 08. is there a way to get my moms card that I am an AU on to report for me, I have been on that for over a year. we are working on my husbands credit as well so he has nothing that would help me to be added to . sometimes this credit "stuff" can be so overwhelming it is hard to establish credit as a Homemaker without my own personal income.

Not every issuer will report AU's to the CRA's. I would call whoever has the account and ask them if they do report and if they do you need to request that you start being shown as an AU.
Does that make sense? I think I confused myself.
From a BK years ago to:
EX - 9/09 pulled by lender 802, EQ - 10/10-813, TU - 10/10-774

I agree with marinevietvet. Call the card issuer and ask them. I,m an AU on my wife's PenFed Visa and they don't report for me and I don't really care because I have enough accounts on my reports (I think). However they may if I asked them. Or their policy maybe to not report AU's.
Depending where my scores are after my two new accounts age for a year I may open another MC or Visa so I will have a minimum of 3 accounts reporting as most members here suggest to gain maximum points.
As far as income goes (or lack of) use your husbands income (household income).
Is the Paid medical collection on your CR?
If so, send GW letter and ask nicely if they would delete. Depending on how old the collection is, you should see a score jump,if deleted.
The newer the collection the higher the score jump, as the collection ages the lower the score jump.
