just got my fico scores for the first time.

can you all fill me in on how i can use my fico scores when building my credit. Ive seen people in the past say they are necessary scores when rebuilding.  They are higher then my scores on credit karma.  most people said they would be lower.   My credit karma equifax score dropped to 593 so i figured id put my worry to rest by checking my scores on credit check total.  my equifax score was 624 my experian was 657.  Both those accounts are reporting my new card.  My equifax on credit karma dropped 73 points after my new card was added.  My transunion on credit karma and credit check total is not reporting my new card yet.  But its at 664 on credit karma and 663 on credit check total....so about the same.  i still have a best buy card thats going to report in a few days.  it will lower my utilization.  My utilization for equifax and experian is 32% which is bad.   on a plus side credit check totals simulator says my experian score will rise about 20 points with 2 years of on time payments.  Im hoping my score doesnt drop too much when my best buy card reports and that they go up to around 640 in 6-9 months if they drop below that.  I may want to get a house.

Well, I think you already got the point to completely ignore the CK scores. They aren't worth much. Only follow the Fico's. The Fico's are necessary because these are the ones most lenders use. You don't want to be gauging where you stand by using false data.

Re: just got my fico scores for the first time.

Welcome to the forum, Volcano credit
It sounds like you on the right track
My advice is
No more cards...especially if the best buy card is a bank card..visa/Mc
Either way..use the card and make payments .
You score will go up gradually and you should be fine with the house finance
1) no new cards..stay away from the approval and application boards!
Garden Club for you..til you are in the new home
2)focus on the mortgage..find a mortgage lender that you are comfortable with
3) and good luck!
