multiple inquires dropped my score

i was buying a car and went to 2 auto dealers, I did get financing. After reviewing my credit reports have found that from the 2 credit applications i filled out there were a combined checks on my credit of 45. This of course dropped my score. Is there anything i can do about it or do i just have to wait and hope i do not need to apply for anything that will check my credit in the next two years.

Re: multiple inquires dropped my score

ouch. OUCH!!!

Well, I think unfortunately yes, the 45 INQ likely sit there until they fall off. You were, afterall, looking for credit. Not directly, you delegated it, but you authorized it.

Now the bright side is that these will probably be combined for scoring purposes, but they will still appear as HP.

In future, it is a better idea to go to your local CU, or bank, get the financing lined up directly with them, and never sign any "credit report authorization" at the dealer. They'll badger you "We'll get a better rate" but as you see, likely run roughshod over your credit report looking for their financing bonus money.
