BK will hurt for 10 years.....the length of time it remains on your CR.
However, as it ages AND you simultaneously establish and maintain excellent credit use, your BK will have less impact as it gets older. 2 years old is the first major milestone, then 4. After 4 years, your improvement of score will mostly rely on your age and history of your new/existing credit.
Some creditors will not extend you credit if you have a BK and so they are not an option for 10 years.
