"Shared" vs. "Joint" accounts

Just pulled my scores.....for EQ, one card that I just made joint says "Shared" rather than "Joint" like it does on TU and EX.

Is this the same thing, or do I need to do anything with EQ to ensure this?   As you might imagine, I just want this TL to count once FICO 08 kicks in......and yes, I know that EQ is not adopting it for the foreseeable future, but nonetheless it is a joint account and I want it reported as such.

Am I all set?

Re: "Shared" vs. "Joint" accounts

As seems to be customary for me lately, I suppose I have to answer my own question here.   In the absence of a response, I will assume "shared" means "joint" and "joint" means "shared".   I just want to be sure I will get credit for this TL after FICO 08 goes into play.

Re: "Shared" vs. "Joint" accounts

I have never seen "shared."  Why not call the creditor and ask them?

Re: "Shared" vs. "Joint" accounts

Can you go to EQ's website for a listing of definitions they use in their CR's?

I can't say for positive sure, but it sounds like shared and joint are one in the same...for EQ

Sorry, you always have really interesting questions to ask, but sometimes they're in areas where no one has an answer! You might be our advance scout on this one.

You can also try re-posting on the Credit Cards forum, since there are a fair number of members there who are active and have joint accounts.

Re: "Shared" vs. "Joint" accounts

Thanks Hauling.  I suppose I should have figured out that, unless it says "Authorized User", it will not be affected by FICO 08.    What is interesting is how the terms differ among the CRA's.    EQ calls this "Shared, but otherwise undesignated" while the others simply say "Joint".

I think I understand now.

EQ always seems to have to be different from the others. DOLA vs DOFD, not displaying a credit limit, but highest balance... They do like to keep us on our toes.
