I'm trying to figure out my credit report and what is killing me is the sallie mae accounts. How can i put them all together. Sallie Mae won't help and it is sending my credit score down. Any help please. Also if i dispute these charges do they only have 30 days to reply and it will go off of my credit report. I'm just trying to fix my credit and my wifes credit. It is a struggle to say the least; any help please let me know.
I've been in deferrment for 4 years, never missed a payment didn't have too being deferred. Somehow, I notice that my lender has me marked more than 180 days later 1/2 of 2007. Started 180 days late in July 07, but prior never had a 30,60,90 nothing, always pays as agreed on time! They have done this to me on 3 seperate loans. Upon contacting them they advise me they would send me a statement of account showing the whole history. Of course, this statement hasn't showed. At any rate I had no choice but to dispute. My score changes by 20 points or more simply from the loans being transferred or sold?? The dispute is suppose to be completed on the 20th so we'll see what happens. I was just suprised to see such major score fluctation over these loans when I've never even had to make a payment. I have no idea what happens in this case as far as removing incorrect data according to dispute? Hopefully, someone on here can let us know if the payment history is disputed and and the cra doesn't solve within 30 days does it go to pays as agreed?? I'm curious, but it's obvious these loans seem to have more bearing on my score compared to an auto loan or credit cards.
When you disputed this how did you do this. I'm new to doing this. Go to all bureau's and dispute? Please let me know. Because I have the same issue. They are saying I was over 180 days late and I was in deferment and I've been paying on time for the past year. I have other stuff on my credit that I need to fix as well. Some had told me that if I pay for one collection I want to pay and and delete at the same time; how does that work or does it work at all???? HELP

Hi...and welcome to the forums. Are these late payments valid? Did you make late payments? Are you current now?
You ask how you can put them all together...did you ever consolidate?
The credit reporting agencies will ask Sallie Mae to confirm their information if you dispute. If Sallie Mae confirms the late payments, they won't go off your reports. That can happen pretty quickly, and 30 days usually isn't an issue.

OK...I see from this post that you were in deferment. Do you have your deferment paperwork?
As far as pay for delete (PFD) goes, do some reading and research here in the forums...especially the Rebuilding Your Credit forum. A pay for delete is where you offer payment to the collection agency (CA) in writing offering to pay only if they will delete the negative reporting from your credit reports. Some CAs will do this; some won't. Is this account past the statute of limitations (SOL) for your state? If not, you need to be a bit careful.

Hi fast 1244...do you have your deferment paperwork?
You talk about your score changing 20 points or more for being transferred or sold? Did this just recently happen? I'm a bit confused about the timeline here.
I don't think school loans have more bearing on your scores than an auto loan or credit card. It's the late payments that have the impact. If these lates were from a credit card or auto loan, you would see quite an impact as well.
It isn't the credit reporting agency that will confirm the late or on time payments. It's the lender. It's possible the reporting can come off your reports, but it can come back on. It needs to be resolved one way or the other.
I wanted to add a thought to both of you about disputing. Often times disputing can have unintended negative consequences. I've seen someone dispute a late payment only to have the lender start digging into the files and come back with a dozen late payments....with all those additional late payments added to the credit reports.
I would try in every way possible to resolve this with the lender first. Then, if the reporting is still incorrect, dispute with the CRAs.
