two points

my fico 8 score is 668. 2 points from "good." I am not looking for a credit card, or a car loan. I am thinking that this is my "forever" home. I am old with a low ss income. I always had good credit before my divorce. I have no reason to want a good score other than the fact that I want it. I am 2 points shy of 670. My collections will have been paid off for 2 years next month.[ no idea if that will give me a point or 2] AAOA is 8 years. AoYA is 7 months. I have been keeping everything under 8% every month and PIF. In May I will be 65 years old. I am hoping to have a 670 score [or above] by my birthday. According to my fico 9, I am at a 780, but that score desn't really mean anything. do you think that as long as I stay under 8% a month that I can reach 670 on my birthday?

Re: two points

I think you have a shot at gaining 2 points by May... you'll gain them (and then some) come June 1st when your AoYA reaches a year. So... belated birthday 😁

Your collections aging next month may have an impact, but I'm not sure. Have you tried getting them removed through Goodwill requests?

Re: two points

If your collections have been paid off for 2 years but are still showing on your CR, see about getting them completely removed this alone will help boost your score as well Smiley Very Happy

Re: two points

My collections, and everything else are paid off. I paid them off before finding this forum, so I did not ask for a Goodwill removal. I also just remembered. I have 4 enquiries in the past year and one of them should be dropping off next month. Might that help? most recent inquiry was in June.

Re: two points

Inquiries don't fall off in a year - they become unscoreable - but they remain as a record for 2 full years (just wanted to clarify that so you're not looking for it to compleyely disappear). Inquiries will become unscoreable exactly 365 days from the inquiry date - so yes - whatever date in Feb 2019 the inquiry was made is when you should see any points lost returned to you in Feb 2020. I just went from 4 to 3 scoreable inquiries on Equifax today and gained 7 points (number of inquiry points +/- is profile specific so keep that in mind).

You should start a Goodwill campaign for those collections - collection agencies don't care much once they're paid so very well may oblige your request - so start sending those letters!!

Re: two points

Well, I just checked and I received 5 points. Now I need to work harder to lose that last ten pounds by my birthday.

Congrats Vicky!  Just curious, do we know if that 5 points came from aging on the 1st of the month or from the inquiry aging to 365 days (did the inquiry date pass yet)?
