what the... %^&@!?! Another strange 'hurting your score'

how's this for a 'hurting your score'

The date of your most recent missed payment is unknown.

Or this:

  1. You have a short credit history.
  1. Average age of your accounts 6 years
  • Most FICO High Achievers [?] have an average age of accounts between 6 and 12 years.
  1. Your FICO score measures the age of your oldest account and the average age of your accounts. In your case, either your oldest account was opened recently or the average age of your accounts is relatively low. People that do not frequently open new accounts and have longer credit histories generally pose less risk to lenders. Therefore, as your credit history lengthens and you pay your bills on time, this factor should have less of a negative impact on your score.

    The slide from grace is really more like gliding
    And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
    But to find a graceful way of staying slid

    Rebuilding,  If you find the answer to Date of last payment unknown -  Let me know.  I have gone round and round with the CRAs and FICO to get a straight answer.  The best they could tell me was that it was at the bottom of the reasons for negatives and did not have much of an impact on my scores.

    Basically, nobody could explain it.

    I have gotten this message occasionally when disputing the balance on an account that also had a late. The account is taken out when scoring, but the formula "knows" that there's something out there, somewhere. Don't know if that matches your situation.

    Is this a TU comment? TU has some sort of ongoing prolem involving phantom lates. Try looking on the myFICO Products board for threads about that.

    The date of your most recent missed payment is unknown.

    If you missed a payment, your FICO score evaluates how recently that missed payment occurred. In general, the more recent the missed payment, the more impact it has on your score. In your case, the date of this missed payment cannot be determined.

    Keep this in mind: If you ask the credit bureau to report a date for this missed payment, it may lower your FICO score in the short term. If the late payment on your credit report is valid, you should focus on continually paying all your bills on time. This will demonstrate a good payment history going forward.

     Most FICO High Achievers [?], about 93%, have no missed payments at all. But of those who do have a missed payment, it happened nearly 4 years ago, on average.

    Scrambling,  that is exactly what mine says and I got the run around from the CRAs and Fico.  I checked all three of my reports three ways to Sunday and nothing on them

    For me:

    What's helping your FICO score?

    * You're widely recognized as a smart guy. People have come to you for advice 5 times in the last 90 days.

    * You've never been in an at-fault auto accident.

    * You're an Aries.

    * Your girlfriend is sexy.

    What's hurting your FICO score?

    * Your hairstyle...it's like, sooooo Eighties.

    * You can't dance to save your life.

    * Your car is more than five years old.

    * You wear shorts and a T-shirt, and say, "these ARE my dress clothes."

    Maybe because I'm a featured blogger, Fair Isaac has secretly changed my ScoreWatch to the new, 2008 beta version.

    I wonder what the top 3 reasons why a person with 850 is not higher?
