Any insights to grow my score from the current 717 eq/176 tu/706 ex to around the 750-800 mark?
right around 10 inq TU, 14 EQ, 16 EX
somewhere in that area, multiple were done within the same day for a new car bought in October
It does not seem like I am too far away.
Cards look like this:
Card | Outstanding Balance | Credit Line |
American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card | ALWAYS PAY IN FULL | NPSL |
American Express Blue Cash Everyday | $0.00 | $500.00 |
American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles | 0.00 | $4,100.00 |
US Airways MasterCard by Barclays Bank | $0.00 | $10,000.00 |
Bank of America Cash Rewards Signature Visa | $0.00 | $5,000.00 |
Discover Card | $0.00 | $3,400.00 |
Chase Sapphire Visa Signature | $0.00 | $10,000.00 |
Chase Southwest Premier Visa Signature | 0.00 | $5,000.00 |
Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature | 0.00 | $5,000.00 |
Citi Dividend MasterCard | $5,187.11 | $8,700.00 |
Best Buy store card | $0.00 | $1,400.00 |
Macy's store card | $0.00 | $2,900.00 |
Let the inquiries fall off, and a bit of time....or pay the dividend card down to less than 800 bucks. certainly a boost at less than 4350, another if under 2800 or so, and max scoring at around 700.
like pfarro said, lowering your util % and waiting for those inq to go will boost your scores a bit.
The suggested approach will work if your files are clean; no baddies depressing your scores.
I hope i see a score bump when my lower my cards down.

I think you just have to give it time, an thicker file will probably lead to higher scores. For right now just need to get AAOA up probably.
How long before the inquires start dropping off?
as far as I know, inqs lose their weight / hit on score after 6 mo of receiving them. they don't drop off the report entirely until 1 yr.
If you have perfect payment history, no baddies I would think time will get you there. With my tests having 1 card maxed out (when Discover was at 2,5K limit) and overall util of less than 10% it did not change much for my Fico EQ score (like 10 points or so) for paying down that Discover to 200$ (less than 10%) I was on a big experimenting mission last year to challenge Score Watch and with the old system overal util was way more important than the maxed out card. Also what killed my score was the number of accounts reporting balances. I did a test with 8 accounts and let 1$ report on 7 accounts..lol.. You would not believe but I lost 40 points. Thank good the new model now does not care much and I can let all my accounts report balances and not more than 5-10 points are lost as long as overall util is less than 10% .. I like that so much better and it does also make more sense to me.
