I see the notification,

of your PM, but still get the error when I click the envelope icon.

Same message @NoMoreE46 .  I think it is from someone that has had there account deleted that is throwing the error message as they reached out to me for help and saw it come through on email vs direct mail and when to goto mail on server i eee mailbox with 1 message but get error so I speculate said person likely esnt you a message as well?

Oooh good theory.  Let's see if any of the other CM and CL are also getting this  same error.

(I turned off all notifications of

any forum activity to personal email.)

I've been having the same issue with my inbox for about a week now. I've also had trouble accessing random posts in the CL board. Admin is aware of the problem but I haven't heard anything back in a few days now.
