I Did Something Quite Stupid - Simple but not simple enough for the subject line.

Hello,

[Posting this here in case anyone can help, as I understand support is closed for the weekend.]

A few years in the past (2015), I had a subscription to myFICO Advanced with the intention of getting my credit score to a very particular number (buying a new car).

Fast forward to this morning. I still have my old credentials stored in my pw manager [lets call this 'real account'], so I signed in. I decided to go for Advanced (middle-tier) again. But first, I checked to see if any discounts were available (I do this every time I sign up for something.) I found you can get the 1st month Basic for $4.95 instead of $19.95. I said great, I'll do that for the 1st month then switch to the Advanced tier.

Well myFICO didn't seem to like the idea of an existing member taking advantage of this offer, so it refused to offer me anything other than reactivation of my previous Advanced subscription, or something similar - so I created a 2nd account ['temp account'] (I feel so dumb, because many other data points would match up - most importantly SSN - DUH).

I successfully somehow got my 'real account' to go through at the $4.95 rate for month 1, and quickly realized that I had seriously overcomplicated things.

Having filled out too much info on the 'temp account' - (yet again, I ask myself why) - when I tried to complete filling out the info on 'real account' the first thing it told me was that the SSN matches an existing user.

I log into 'temp account' but you cannot edit the SSN field. I also can't figure out how to simply wipe the 'temp account' out as if it never existed.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Which one do you want deleted? I will ask an admin to do it.

Re: I Did Something Quite Stupid - Simple but not simple enough for the subject line.

Hello @gdale6  - and thank you for responding.

The one to delete would be the one I previously called the 'real account'.  (sorry, I know we're supposed to keep identifying data on the down-low - tried searching for a unique identifier in all the menus)

Even though I originally wanted that one to be the primary, I found that without support staff available today, my easiest solution was to just purchase the "Advanced" in full using my account with the secondary email address (an old spam-filled yahoo email).

Once the gmail-based myFICO account is deleted, I'm hoping to use the 'change username' feature to reflect my primary/gmail address.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @gdale6

Sorry - I worded that poorly.

I didn't realize that the forum username is so clearly tied to the overall account, because it is only mentioned (as far as I've seen) under "Community".

mr_signup_fail - (which I hope I can change) is connected to the now VALID/PERMANENT myFICO account.

It is the other one, which I haven't even given a username/handle, which must be deleted.

Sorry - missed the question about 'illuminate'.

Unless I came up with that nickname in 2007, I don't know what that is...

I got my current gmail address in late 2008.

Nonetheless, yes, remove account and all things associated with "illuminate" please.

Thanks again.

@Anonymous Since this has to do with your myFICO account (and not just standalone forums), I, unfortunately, can't help. Please call into the support center which is open today for assistance. Explain to them and they should be able to deactivate your second account.
