Post flooding????

I was replying to a post, and I got a message that said "post flooding detected. to many posts in 3600 seconds". (or something very similar to that).

Does that mean I'm talking to much and I should shut up? Or is it an ominous message warning me of something?

Re: Post flooding????

Glad it's not just me! You get that when you post, and then you realize that you wanted it on a different board or something, and you try to post again. The system thinks that you're trying to "flood" --send the same post over and over.

Try changing some of the content and hit submit again. If that doesn't work, you just have to save it somewhere on your computer and try again in an hour.

Re: Post flooding????

Oooh, the old post flooding bit!

Sometimes if you hit the "submit" button twice you'll come up with that message. Other times, it's just because you're a really fast poster. The intent of the flood message is to keep people from making the same post over and over again, spamming up the boards.

I have a question for anyone that reads this. How many of you have gotten this message, and how frequently? It's possible that we may need to lower the time limit for flooding. Smiley Happy

Re: Post flooding????

I've gotten it I guess a half dozen times, a couple of times from trying to post with too much caffeine on board, and the other times when I realized that I had posted to the wrong board, deleted that post, went to the correct board, and tried again.

I would think that 20 minutes would be enough time to minimize spamming. After all, with 9 boards not counting the welcome board, it would take a spammer 2 hours and forty minutes to hit them all, after the initial post. Surely their tiny little attention spans would have petered out before then.

Re: Post flooding????

I've only received it a couple of times....maybe 3.

I'm pretty speedy on typing too. But I tend to hit the enter key to quickly, or to many times in rapid succession.
