Most forums I belong to require your account to meet cetain requirements before you can post links or pictures. Your account might have to be a certain age, or you might have to post a certain number of comments. This thread is a good example of why posters should have to be above a specific rank to post links:

You have to be above a certain rank to put pictures in your signature, so why not extend the restrictions to include links in posts?
