Clearly Scorewatch does not work.

I have had 3 inquiries fall off this month alone and have only had one alert, last reported July 9th. I paid my credit util down from 100% to 1% and it didn't alert me. So I just used my 1 free power score report to pull Equifax and it showed I have a 700FICO whereas Scorewatch only said I had a 629... I clearly do not understand how a 71 point jump would not show on Scorewatch when I have my target score was set to 630. Why does this product not work?

Congrats on the increase!

What caused it?

Re: Clearly Scorewatch does not work.

A couple inquiries falling off and paying util down from 100% to 1%.

I increased 133 points in a month, not too shabby. Bought my TU today aswell but it hasn't updated to after I paid util down to 1%...so waste of $20 basically.

Re: Clearly Scorewatch does not work.

Do you have your current score set to your goal score?  If you don't go set it right now under "settings" to what your current score is, to the exact number.  I think this is why you aren't getting alerts.  Great job!

Re: Clearly Scorewatch does not work.

I am having the same anxiety about Scorewatch right now.

I'm curious to know how long I should allow "no alerts" (when I KNOW there have been significant changes to my CR) before I "buy" my ScoreWatch report...I don't want to waste the money for a new report, but I also want to get what I'm paying $14.95/mo. for.

Ugh

Re: Clearly Scorewatch does not work.

@Booner - I had my current score set for a month, during that month I paid off 100% util down to 1% util and had 3 or 4 inqs fall off and never had a notification, then I use my last free power score report and my EQ is a 700 - up from a 629 which scorewatch was reporting.

I agree with Cas. It seems to me like scorewatch may not work intentionally so you buy power score reports and spend the $14.95 per month on top of it.. I think it would be cheaper for my to buy my power score reports every 3 months or so - be hell of a lot cheaper if scorewatch won't work.

Re: Clearly Scorewatch does not work.

My SW updates all the time, including remarkably useless messages about no change at all, or there's a change on my reports, but no change in scores.

But there have been times when it obviously wasn't working, and I'm sorry that you seem to be stuck in one of those periods.

Have you tried doing the well-duh things like checking the e-mail address that you supplied for alerts, checking your spam filter, and so forth? At one point, I had to de-register and re-register to get the fool thing working again.

IME, SW works very well, except when it doesn't work at all. Have you called CS to ask them to take a look at your settings? They might be able to see something that doesn't show up on your end.

Just called CS for SW and I think I'm even more frustrated lol

He stated that it can take up to 30 days for a change to hit my report...which I understand, the problem is, I have another CMS and it alerted me to the 50% drop in utilization on 1 card, but SW didn't.  I asked him if this is a "true time" monitoring service in which he said "yes, it's automatic, but it can take 30 days before you receive an alert".

Maybe I should just go back to bed because if this is an inclination of how my day is going to be, I do NOT want to be a part of it Smiley Happy

(This is getting colorful, lol.)

Unless the decrease in util was enough to trigger a score change, a Scorewatch alert wouldn't be generated. You would get alerted for an increase in balance for instance, but not for lowered util per se. And it's possible that lowered util on an individual card wasn't enough to result in a new score.

Read admin Barry's explanation for how Scorewatch works. There are a couple of examples of things that do NOT trigger an alert. Due to some fluke in the html which no one can figure out, there are acres of white space that can't be removed, but scroll down to the bottom of the post, and you'll see a chart for what does trigger alerts.

I'll definitely take a look at that.  I would normally think that a lower balance wouldn't result in an alert, except a week ago I received an alert for a $5 increase on a card  (it didn't result in a score change, just an alert showing a balance increase which I specified in my settings).  I even double checked my settings to make sure I had everything right (ok...I didn't check my setting once, more like 10 times thinking I must have missed something).

Oh well....all my patience left me when I had my son 12 years ago LOL

edit - ok, I get it now...no alert for balance decrease Smiley Sad  well, poop
