FICO Quarterly Monitoring Alert Issue

The FICO Quarterly Monitoring process was recently been upgraded. Yesterday an unexpected bug related to this upgrade resulted in a large number of old and duplicated alerts -- along with new ones -- being sent out to thousands of FQM subscribers.

I also received one telling me my score dropped 3 points.....back in September! Smiley Tongue

We apologize for this error. Our tech team is working on a resolution that should be completed soon. I'll let you all know when that happens. In the meantime, disregard any alerts that are outdated or duplicated.

Barry, unless I'm mistaken, I think this is the first time my TU Quarterly Monitoring has ever alerted. I was grateful it happened...but it did have a lot of old information on it.

Re: FICO Quarterly Monitoring Alert Issue

I've been told to disregard an alert for a "new address" that is completely unfamiliar to me, although it is in the same general metropolitan area I live in. It isn't "old" information at all. But this address doesn't appear in either the TU or EQ credit reports I bought. Those reports also fail to show any new credit inquiries or accounts.

The customer service rep I spoke to said that myFico gets information from something like 400 sources so there is no telling where the address might've come from. But at the same time, she said not to concern myself about it as long as the address didn't appear in my credit reports. And she did offer to refund the cost of the TU credit report - I had bought the 2 reports solely because of the alert.

She did a good job of customer service and made me feel better taken care of, but I'm still not completely comfortable with the notion that somehow this strange address may have been linked with my credit history, but in some way we can't pin down now. I guess that's where we are. It does seem to me that myFico ought to be able to tell where the information it alerted me to came from. Why would there be no trace if it registered to the degree that an alert was generated? She didn't try to look it up, just told me there had been problems with the Quarterly Monitoring alerts, saying, as you do, that they were mostly old information showing up as new alerts.

But that's not my situation, is it? There have been problems, but might my issue not be a real one, even if it's not in the TU or EQ credit reports? If some other source shows the address, perhaps I ought to know that to take action too?

Or have the problems gone beyond old data showing up as new? Have false alerts shown up? Could my whole alert be a mistake? That is not what she acknowledged; it was simply what you said: that old data was suddenly triggering new alerts. Are there other problems like mine that may represent information being incorectly reported in an alert? I know folks don't like to acknowlege error by a system like this, but it there was no error, then it sounds like there is still something that I should be tracking down.

Still uneasy,

trulyb

Can't say that I've received a lot of alerts with FQM either, Lynette.  Looks like that's starting to change, though.  Smiley Happy

I hear you, trulyb.... It does seem like myFICO should be able to address the source of this data, much like we do with credit reporting information. But for these FICO Quarterly Monitoring alerts, myFICO actually contracts with a company that gathers this data from these 400 or so sources. They don't provide myFICO with the source of this data, and, to my knowledge, there is no way for myFICO or any one of us to find out the source of such information.

The only thing I can suggest to do once receiving one of these alerts is what you've done, which is to order a credit report. Then if you don't see anything irregular, i.e. suspicious inquiries, new accounts, address, name, etc. -- and you're not aware of anything else suspicious going on with your ID information -- just figure it was some kind of mix up and let it go. (sorry for the less-than-stellar answer to good-but-tricky question.) Smiley Wink

Re: FICO Quarterly Monitoring Alert Issue

Barry, thanks so much for responding. With a little time and perspective, I have to agree with you. With nothing suspicious in either credit report - no new inquiries, no new accounts, no sign of this "new address" - I just have to let it go and write it off to an error by some agency or company who reported to myFico. I'll let it go....

This is a very helpful place to use as a sounding board. And as I said, the customer service representative was very polite and did refund the cost of the TU report without my asking. That was a good response too.

In the past, I've gotten regular updates from Quarterly Monitoring, when there's been a new credit inquiry or account opened. I think the product has worked as promised for me til this latest hiccup. As someone said on another thread related to this, I'd rather be over-notified than under-notified.

Truly

Re: FICO Quarterly Monitoring Alert Issue

How long does it take to get the alert? I had a debt deleted off TU and they sent me the updated report on Sunday. I have checked my credit report on Monday and it was gone but still no alert.

TUQM won't alert you to dropped baddies.
