FICO Score - Confused on what to purchase!

Hey everyone,

First post here - so be nice!  Smiley Happy

I would like to monitor my scores and after looking around, I am confused just what to buy here.

Initially, I would like to watch them often as there are a couple of problems on Equifax that I am trying to work out. Then, maybe quarterly checks would be fine.

Thanks for any feedback here, I just want to make sure I purchase the right program!

Re: FICO Score - Confused on what to purchase!

Welcome to the forums!

There are only two monitoring services offered for your FICO score by myFICO.

Score Watch® only monitors EQ but is great at catching changes to your EQ FICO score (assuming your settings are set just right) and is great at catching new accounts, new inquiries, account changes, balance increases, and so on. If you subscribe to SW, you'll get 2 free reports per year and one of those must be used when you first subscribe. For best results, go into the "Settings" tab and change the "Target score" to EXACTLY match the score you see when you first subscribe. If you change your target score to exactly match, then if your score changes again, up or down, you'll get alerted to that score change. If you set your target score too high, you won't get an alert until your EQ FICO hits or surpasses that target. Immediately following any score change, always be sure to go back and change your Target score to match your current score. Cumbersome, but effective. Also know there are limitations to SW. For example, it won't alert you to dropped accounts, lowered balances, and it only monitors your score on a weekly or so basis. Also pulling a new EQ FICO report will nullify any score alerts that you were about to receive (if you score changed). Both DW and I have used SW for over 3 years now and, IMO, it's a great product. You also get 30% off all future EQ pulls. Just familiarize yourself with the SW Guide found stickied here somewhere as to what it does and doesn't catch.

FICO® Quarterly Monitoring only monitors TU. It really doesn't monitor anything (other than demographic info I think), but this service is basically a pre-paid plan for TU FICO reports on a quarterly basis. It doesn't alert you to new info or score changes like SW does. My DW uses this service and comes in handy if you aren't pulling FICO reports that often, or don't need to pull that often. You also get discounts on future TU FICO reports.
