HAWK Alert

I am unable to access my TransUnion report due to a HAWK Alert indicating that my previous address is a check-cashing service.  The address was actually a private mail drop that was in the same shopping center as a check-cashing service.  I realize that I need to contact the bureau to get this corrected, but I am just curious as to how this info is generated.  In other words, how does a credit bureau know what type of address it is?  (This sort of ties in w/ the thread I posted yesterday RE: myFICO Property Reports).

To get past that HAWK alert problem, I'd suggest removing your previous address from your personal ID information on myFICO. Then re-order. I doubt there's anything the bureau can do for you in this situation, unfortunately.

The bureaus have access to databases that show the type of business at an address, and they flag businesses that tend to be used by high-risk individuals. I'm checking on who provides the property reports to myFICO -- it isn't the bureaus, though -- and I'll reply to your post when I find out.
