Re: I don't think the simulators are worth a hoot...I ran min...

I know what you mean I paid down several cards and the updates are finally hitting it was approx a month ago and I still have anywhere from 2-6 cc that have not updated to each of the bureaus. It is hard to be patient but when you start to see your fico on the rise it is a cause for celebration. Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome!

Re: I don't think the simulators are worth a hoot...I ran min...

In times like this it is better to dispute the balance with the "3."  By disputing the balance they would not delete the trade line if no response in 30 days occures but instead would simply update the balance according to your dispute....

I had an bad account reporting BR, 120 past (3x)  90 days past etc all on  this one account... The item was a paid BAD account.. However, I did not go past due that often as reported and by that much...  I will ONLY stand for 100% accurate accounts on my CR... However, I sometime attack those if they are BADSmiley Surprised

So when I disputed that I was not late as reported to the "3," the creditor did not respond and the "3" changed all of those remarks to paid as agreed...  The account actually went from BAD to a Outstanding aged trade line!!

Re: I don't think the simulators are worth a hoot...I ran min...

My EQ has dropped another 2 points with no obvious changes. My max gain to expect from the simulator has also dropped 2 points.

AMEX has been posting for me the first week of each month until April when I paid them down. Now its been 45 days since their last update. No good news, no bad news.

My guess my score is missing the monthly "paid as agreed" from Amex and it will at least pick up the two points lost with just a "paid as agreed" from them.

Re: I don't think the simulators are worth a hoot...I ran min...

As I have said elsewhere, I think that each simulation on paying down debt assumes this is the only reason for a low credit score.  Hence it seems to give a very rosy picture of what will happen if they are paid down.  It seems to ignore enquiries and old late payments that might still be hanging around, and these can slow down the simulated rate of increase.

In general, it has suggested an increase for me that was at least double what actually happened when I followed the rules!  Smiley Sad

Haven't you already got your scores into the 600 range? If so you know the rules of the game by now. Two years of ontime payments with no delinquencies with cc util ind and overall under 10%. You will gain well over 100 points according to simulators.

My simulators tell me I stand to gain 60-100 points within three months of paying off debt so I will keep you posted.

That was what they told me.  Net result of so doing for 22 months was a gain of 20 points.  Of course, not all that was due to paying on time - I had some derrogatories drop off as well.  So I am not enthused

I just mailed in money to my credit card company because the simulator said I would gain 10 points. I hope it happens. Will know in 3 weeks when it reports.
