ScoreWatch a ripoff?

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

I actually tried all of that. Initially, I had my score alert set to 10 points higher than my current score had been, and I was notified christmas eve when I met that goal. I have not had an alert since. I changed the alerts to all of the things other people have recommended, and nada. I suppose it's alright, I just got a quarterly report, and my score is awesome, honestly, I've learned a lot on these boards, and I suppose getting alerts really doesn't matter anymore. I know the direction in which my score is moving, and I owe a big thanks to the people behind/on this website, not the product. Thanks, Mandy : )

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

I've tried setting my alerts to what you guys are saying here, including setting target score to current score. I don't know. I think SW is manually updated and with the possibility of the program being more popular now, we are no longer getting the service we're supposed to be getting. Well, if I cancel, there's hope for anyone who stays. I get an email every time I make a negative post about SW. I know someone is reading the boards and replying so it's no secret. At least we know SW employees are doing their jobs. However, most of us are not going to get what we pay for 8.95/month. I'll come back when the supply meets the demand.

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

That's the hitch, Im willing to pay 8.95 or 18.95 (the money is nothing!) for a service that I feel I can't live without. For the first month or so, I felt that way about scorewatch, I was even thinking of having my father sign up.

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

I used this product years ago, and I've noticed a big change - it used to be that you would log in and it would just TELL you what your current score is and I actually would watch it move. Now you have to set alerts - icky! I like the old one better.
05/12: approx 680 across the board
04/08 EQ: 730 TU: 748 EX: 718
03/08: EQ: 713 TU: ? EX: ?
12/07: EQ: 689 TU: 711 EX: 721

Yeah, I'm considering dropping the ScoreWatch service at the end of my next subscription period.  The alerts that are sent to explain why the scores change are often wrong.  There could be a lot that could be done to make the service better, but when I call into support, the people that answer the phone are not always knowledgeable, and there doesn't seem to be any effort being made to improve things.  I recently applied for a WaMu card because they have a similar type of service that is included with their card.  They only monitor monthly, but at least it's free, and this service isn't better enough to justify an $100 extra per year for ScoreWatch.  They sure need some better computer programmers! Scorewatch is far from perfect, but it serves a useful purpose for me, and at least the score is a real one!

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

This is NOT good... I have subscribed to Score Watch and Alerts for over a year for both myself and my husband.  We have been receiving all the alerts just fine.  However, because we had our credit card date expired and was replaced with a newly dated card, the "System" tried for two weeks I am told by Customer Service, to get the funds for our product and was told the funds were not available.  Well, of course, they were not cause the card was updated!  But, instead of just emailing me to see what the problem was, the FULLY AUTOMATED AND WONDERFUL "SYSTEM" cancelled both our accounts.  Funny, that I can receive all sorts of other emails from them and not this one.

Now, this would not be so terrible if I wanted to resign up for the service at a $1.00 a month MORE for each of us, but the really infurating thing is that I had over a years worth of archieved scores, up and down, that I could see and track and that is an important part of the service.  If I sign up for the service again, not only do I have to pay $2.00 more per month for both our services, but we also have no access to past scores and alerts.

All the customer rep could do was say "The system automatically updates and cancels if the card does not work"....Well, my question is why cannot this "wonderful" system that is supposedly so technologically superior, send a darn email and clear this up in about two seconds and things would be still continuing on with me having access to the reports and scores I want.   The service person did not offer me any free months or any compensation at all for what I feel is a total oversight and unfair practice from MYFICO.

I think I am outta here.

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

Wow... I have been using this service for about 2.5 years and have always gotten my alerts.  If I do get an alert, it may prompt me to go in and update my settings at that time.  It's not that big of a deal is it?  You get an alert saying you've reached/passed the score you set the alert for, log on, confirm it and update the alert to the new number you have - whether that is up or down.

I do check to make sure my e-mail address is correct and current.  I do check to make sure my text service is set up correctly and with the appropriate carrier.  I have had zero problems and have been very happy with this service.  It keeps me aware of everything that is important to me.

I do wonder why there seems to be such a wide variety of experiences with the same product, but I expect that is because we all use it in a different way...

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

Hi ladydia45,

We do attempt to send you an email when we cannot charge the card we have on file for you.  The email contains a link that allows you to update your credit card details.  In fact you should have received 3 such emails as we attempt to charge the card 3 times, but if the charge doesn't complete, we do in fact automatically cancel the account.  Clearly in this case you either didn't receive the emails or perhaps they went into a spam folder.....?  I'm very sorry about this!  Let me see what I can do on my end.  I'll send you a PM once I determine what we can do for you.  Again, my sincere apologies.

Regards,
Jen

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

I am a little on the fence with scorewatch.  I subscribed to the service and called because I noticed I had recieved no alerts.  That would be ok except it still had my information from my 30-day trial in Nov 07... no updates. I should have received at the minimum alerts advising activity from a dormant account (due to pmts).  Received nothing. I contacted customer service on two occassions to fix the trouble. First time the gentleman offered me a free scorepower report. Pulled the report ... info had not changed. He advised nothing more to troubleshoot.  In the meantime, I also am trialing a service with Equifax which includes scorewatch.  Received no notifications there either. Call Equifax and they basically reset my account by restarting my trial. Viola ... next day 4 alerts and my score had increased. This within 24-48 hours of me contacting MyFico about the service.  Since I received alerts from Equifax I called MyFico because guess what ... no alerts on my MyFIco page. Also asked the young lady if there would be a problem since I also have the service on Equifax. She stated no and most people advise like MyFIco better because never miss alerts. Long story short when I asked her to reset like Equifax she advised could only render a credit and since a credit was issued the service would be cancelled.

I am frustrated because instead of troubleshooting, I was advised the best solution was to cancel and refund. I guess I was expecting a reset (like Equifax) and a free month since the service was not working. This has been my third call to MyFIco regarding products I have purchased and I am not pleased with the customer service they provide.  It appears the representatives are geared to making sure they are not giving credits versus listening to customer issues and concerns.
