Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

Just signed up for free month's trial for SW for both myself and hubby.  Just to make sure I have it right, I should set my target score for my current score?  And how do I pick the "most sensitive" settings?  This looks like it will be a great service if it works!

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

Scorewatch seems to have two types of members, those that love it and those that hate it... I'm going to give it a try because I think it'd be nifty to have one fico score that (ideally) would let me know whenever it changed, instead of just my fako's on TC.

Hopefully I'll figure out how to fine tune the settings (going by what I've read on threads and the scorewatch sticky) and will get a few notices during the 30 day trial to ease my mind about it all...

**edit**
I was hoping to sign up for the free trial and use a coupon code Smiley Wink but when you do the free trial/one year sign up, it asks for your CC Info but doesn't give a coupon code option, any advice?

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

I had the scorewatch for the free 30 day trial and loved it. I canceled it a few days ago and now I'm wondering if I can buy the yearly price with a coupon code? I probably should have just paid the full price.

Have you tried going back to purchase it now?  If so did it give you the option to add a coupon?

I did and bought it. It did not give me any option to add a coupon. I just paid the entire $89.95. It will be worth it for me.

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

I wonder if I can do the trial, and when it comes time to cancel call customer service to have the coupon added?  I definitely think the service would be worth it if I'm getting alerts, I however am not financially in a spot where I can drop the 89.95 in good conscience... I'll probably end up just going with the monthly plan.

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

I had 2 new accounts added to my credit reports last week and haven't received a SW alert yet.  I have all settings set at the minimum.  I just renewed this service too because I received 2 alerts during my free trial but now I'm beginning to think the $8.95 a month is bogus.

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

I have found the best results if I set my target score to 1 point abive my current score.

I have yet to receive an alert from True Credit even though my FAKO TU score has gone up 21 points.

Many people here have stated that Score Watch misses events on their CR but I have yet to see a posting from soneone who was a victim of identity theft and was using Score Watch.

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

Interestingly enough, I received a customer service survey today in my email from MyFico which I completed and expressed my thoughts about SW.  Two hours letter I received an alert. Coincidence?

Re: ScoreWatch a ripoff?

So wait a sec. I signed up for SW because I was hoping to see a lot of activity between 2 CLI's totalling over 4K, 9 GW letters (1 successful so far) and practically paying every credit card off I own (except for 1 that is less than 9% util)

How much of these will I actually get alerts for. I hear that SW does not monitor balance decreases but wouldn't it send me a alert for the score increase as I go from over 70% util to a total of about 6%?

On a separate question. I got one response so far on my GW letters where they agreed to remove all lates. This is a closed account a couple years old but in the 7 year history had a couple 30's and a couple 60's. I thought that I may receive a small increase in Fico (maybe a point or two) but when I got the alert that there was a status change on the account, my score remains unaffected. Is this SW behavior or is it the account may be too old to even matter anymore?
