ScoreWatch not updating

I don"t understand what happened. Before Scorewatch would update and let you see your new score with alerts. I had a 16 point increase and did not receive an alert. I ended up having to use my last free Equifax score to see the increase. Can this be fixed so next year when I receive my 2 I can use them when needed instead of just to see the 16 point increase?

Thank you

Re: ScoreWatch not updating

Hi, welcome to the forums!

What was your target score set to, when you didn't get an update?

Re: ScoreWatch not updating

It has always been at 625. But I still would get alerts.

Re: ScoreWatch not updating

Was 625 your original score?

Although you've gotten alerts in the past with 625 as your target, it works a whole lot better if you use your most recent known score.

Otherwise, check your junk/ spam e-mail folder. Also, go to your settings in SW and make sure that your e-mail addy is correct and current. If all this matches, call CS Monday (they're closed on Sundays), and ask if they can see why you didn't get an alert.

That's all I've got off the top of my head.  Smiley Tongue

Re: ScoreWatch not updating

no my score was in the 500"s. October 29 it was 590. November 3 it jumped to 606. Hopefully I can get these score and my credit respectable. It's amazing how something you don't care about for so long is so very important when you get older.

Re: ScoreWatch not updating

That's very true! Now that I look again at your screen name, I assume that you started at 566. If so, you've jumped 40 points since then, and that's wonderful!

Hope you can untangle what's going on with your reporting.

Most of the time, SW alerts work for most subscribers. But every now and then, it seems to go walkabout for some of us. It has happened to me in the past.

With luck, CS can find out what's going on. In the meantime, I strongly recommend setting your target to 606.

They really shouldn't call it a target score. Smiley Mad (I think this is the hundredth time I've griped about this.) The way it works is if your new score "crosses" your target score, as in it goes either higher or lower than that figure, you'll get an alert. While I certainly see why any sensible person would pick a nice high figure as a target score, it won't work for alerts. I suspect that your previous alerts came from something else that SW picked up, something that fell under a credit alert instead of a score alert, like a new account, or a new inq, or a balance increase, or something like that. These all fall under the "credit alert" category, as opposed to the "score alert" category. SW checks for different things, and score changes is a separate category.

You can click on the Score Watch Guide up above to learn about the different criteria that it uses in searches.

Re: ScoreWatch not updating

I just purchased my Transunion its at 620. So I am excited about getting this going. What got me started was I had a collection account for 106 dollars. The agency called me and said you owe this money. you have until the end of the month to pay or else it goes on your credit. I called the Doctor office. They said yes you do have past due balance. I said ok and Paid it. Collection Agency was notified of this before end of month. Anyway they put it on my credit anyway. Now it says paid but it should have never been there. I am just ready to take control of my finances. I have to credit cards now. 1 is a secured the other unsecured $300 each plus a an auto loan. I will be in 700's before February.

Re: ScoreWatch not updating

Just an update. I have finally made it to 615 for my fico score. After figuring out that I must pay my credit cards so the balance is down before the statement date. It's been a fun trip so far. I have had a little bit of back tracking with the score because of this. The score updating has been working great also. I now have 2 unsecured credit cards with $500 dollar limits and still keep my trusty $300 dollar secured card, and my autoloan. I should get another score bump when my credit cards statement gets turned into

the credit bureaus early next month(Feb). Thank you to everyone here

Re: ScoreWatch not updating

I have the same issue.  From March 2010 to Jan 2011 the chart showed a flatline.  Not until I pulled my own Experian report on myfico's site did it suddenly jump over 30 points.  I called myfico to try to get a refund on the scorewatch monthly payments, but they are giving me a hard time.

Going to just cancel this service, absolutely does not work.  Before March '10 I was getting regular updates but something went wrong along the way.

Hi michel100,

While entirely possible, it is rather unusual to have gone so long without a SW alert.  And now that you've pulled a new EQ report (you said EXP but meant EQ) with the higher score it's clear that you probably should have received some kind of alert over these many months. Can't say for sure though.

Don't know if you still want to cancel, but we've added a couple of free EQ reports to your SW and refunded your recent EQ purchase.  Sometimes pulling a new report, as you've done, has the effect of resetting the alerting mechanism, so let's hope that will have done the trick. But if you still want to cancel, send me a private message and I'll take care of that for you.
