Scorewatch Question..

I have Scorewatch set up to alert me whenever one of my accounts has a balance increase over xxxx amount of dollars.

Yesterday, I got an alert saying that amount was exceeded. Log in, it's showing an alert on my Chase accounts (2). Now, we only use that card for booking flights and vacations so I thought it was odd. Called DH, he said he didn't use it.

Also, on my EQ reports, both Chase accounts show different opening dates, don't show a CL,  under description say "credit cards" and show I'm an AU on both. Only difference is the opening dates.

I always thought the reason for two Chase accounts was that DH closed one card when he received the other. Turns out, I was wrong.

Apparently, one of the Chase accounts is my own banking account.

I get paid on Thursday's, and once a month get a seperate bonus check. When my regular paycheck plus the bonus check hit my account, I got the alert.. I only realized this when I did the math.

So are Scorewatch and FICO supposed to factor in personal banking accounts? I find this odd.

Also anyone know why it would say "AU" and "Credit Card" on my own banking account?  This may be a question for another forum though..

Re: Scorewatch Question..

EQ doesn't factor in personal bank accounts. DW and I have 7-8 checking accts at different banks and none report.

Here's what I think is happening: SW monitors what is happening on EQ. SW is set up whereby you can get alerted to changes in your report, including balance increases. Open up SW and go to the "Settings" tab. You'll see bubbles marked "Y" for yes in front of these two items: Whenever one of your accounts has a balance increase larger than _% and Whenever one of your accounts has a balance increase larger than $_. Select one for "N" for No. As it stands now, if your balances exceed the defaulted minimums ($x increase and x% increase), then you'll get 2 alerts on the same TL. This gets confusing because it makes it appear you have two identical accounts when you might not.

Every CCC has different rules on AUs. The open dates could differ based on the AU open date.

The lack of the CL could be the card type. Seems like recently that many were unvoluntarily (if that's a word) upgraded to a Chase signature CC which won't report a CL. You may want to ask around on that one.

Finally, you'd want to find out why it reported a balance. Look online to see. Maybe there was a delayed charge, an annual fee, or something that resulted in the balance increase. I do recommend looking online at all of your accounts at least once per month to study charges and so forth.

Lastly, pull EQ from somewhere and double check.

Re: Scorewatch Question..

Thank you IIecs.

Just changed the 5% to "no".

he Chase card we have is the signature Sapphire. No idea why he changed it a few years back. Could of been that Chase did it on their own. Not sure. So I understand that particular card doesn't report a CL.

When I went back to look, the interesting thing is, Scorewatch hasn't sent me an alert for my regular paychecks which also exceed the amount I had set up.  So had I thought about it, I would have realized that the bonus check didn't set it off..

DH is at work now and I can't remember the login into. for  Chase. Will do it tonight just to confirm no strange charges were added.

Will also pull EQ.

Re: Scorewatch Question..

Just checked Chase Sapphire. $89.00 balance. I called, made them check and there's nothing else. No old charge, no new charge, gave me the date the last time the card was used and where. Nothing else.

Back to my checking account....

Re: Scorewatch Question..

Changing it to "No" will eliminate the double alert and will be less confusing now.

That Chase CC doesn't report CLs. Chase commonly converts others' CCs without notice if I recall correctly. I don't know why they do that, though.

The $89 could be an annual fee. If it reported, then it's on your last statement. Keep an eye on these fees. I've read too many horror stories of posters tossing their statements thinking they had a $0 balance when in fact they had a misc. fee which later resulted in a CO because it went unnoticed for so long.

Re: Scorewatch Question..

IIecs, mystery solved!

It's not my Chase CC or my Chase bank account. Apparently mom added me as an AU back in 2001 and it's her account.

By the time I called, asked and finished explaining to her what was going on, I needed a drink!

Thanks for your help. Smiley Happy
