Hello to all I just wanted to post a success story and hopefully show all that with this site, patience, and the grace of God, we all can get out of our past credit dilemmas. When I started on this site, last Feb, I had a Fico score of rough 550 across the board and through a lot of hard work, responsible use of credit, paying my bills and praying I can proudly say that my Fico's are 775 across the board (seriously no bs :) Well with these great scores I figured I could take on the world and be in the best situation to buy my first home. I did notice though that my Cap1 card (my only credit card) was stuck on a $500 cl for the last 4 years :( (i had the card for 7 years total, started as a secured card with $200 cl and got out of secure status but stuck on $500) Now I'll admit and say for the last year I haven't used the card much, before I use to carry a balance (normally $400+) on it just to show the payments because I thought it would help my credit and that the cl would increase. But sadly it hasn't and Cap1 wont let me get a cli so I figured with my new scores I should apply for a new "Prime" card. Myfico told me based on my scores I shouldn't have a problem getting approved for a credit card and I should expect a high credit limit. i also have pretty good income, 130k with me and dw, and the only debt I have is my car (BMW 530i 1.9% 5 years :) and a student loan I owe about 10k on. So when I thought of which card I wanted I figured I'd get an Amex blue cash based on the "prestige" of the card. i applied and when it didn't get instantly approved I thought there must have been a mistake. i called a back door number (courtesy of the forums) and they told me that my EX score was too low and that I had a serious derog :( I knew that my student loan had just got out of rehab and at that time I guess it wasn't updated yet, so I disputed the info on EX and pleaded with Amex that it was a mistake. They told me I could fax them the CR once it was updated but for right now it was denied. i was pissed. I pulled myfico EQ and TU and both had the SL updated and my score were 775. I even faxed Amex my CR from EQ but they weren't hearing it. Finally my EX was updated and even there bs vantage score gave me a B rating or 853 (350-950 range) so I called Amex back explained the situation, even gave them the authority to pull the report again ( I know another hard inq) but I really wanted the card. The rep told me that she seen the EX CR now didn't show any negs at all and that they would review it. I called back the next day and they said that the app was still denied based on a serious derog on my TU now. Now I know that Amex was bs me cause I pulled my TU and like I said there aren't any derogs and myfico was 776. Amex pissed me of so bad I said screw them and I decided to apply for a Chase Freedom card cause I heard its one of the best cash rewards cards. So I applied for Chase and again it wasn't instantly approved and now I was starting to get frustrated and down :( I called the recon number and the credit analst told me since my Cap1 cl was so low it through a red flag. I felt like I couldn't win. The analyst told me that based on my credit he could only approve me for the Freedom with the $500 cl. I felt this was bs when you factored my high scores but I took the card cause I figured I could use it instead of my debit card, pif and the card would grow with me. It was just funny that reading the forums last night and seeing someone post that bofa had a pre qualify option that wouldn't do a hard pull. I went onto the site, did the pre qualify and it said I could be approved for the bofa cash rewards card with a 3k cl. I was shocked, but I felt it was too good to be true so i called over the phone did the app, answered some questions to the anaylst and he told me that he could approve me for the card with there lowest APR and a $2500 cl!! I said sold!!! So now I plan to have my wife use the Chase and I'll use the bofa and hopefully Chase will see the CL with bofa and will try to catch up or surpass that cl! All I have to say is ty bofa for giving me a chance!!
