Thats just silly. They would save a lot of trees if they would just tell their CSR their policy.

I asked for a CLI at activation on my blue a few months ago. The CSR said she could try, but it would take a hard. I agreed (figuring they would hard my TU, which has never been looked at). The CSR said I would get a letter in 7-10 days with a response. When the letter came, it said no CLI within first 60 days, and no hard was pulled.

The general consensus is NOT asking for a CLI within 30 days of new approval. Waiting 60 days PIF each month THAN use web form (pulls SOFT) and if declined, wait 3-6 months..Amex has never pulled a hard for CLI but their policy on approvals have changed recently on CB a lot of members got 2 CRs pulled when they applied for Amex so perhaps you too had 2 pulls from approval and just realizing it now?
The enviornment is too unstable right now for all banks so I wouldn't be surprised if they will start pulling hard for CLIs just to keep us ficoholics from hitting the luv button every other month!

Well put cheddar!

In my experience, Amex CSRs are generally about 50% better informed than other CCCs' CSRs.This means, of course, that they make stuff up only about 25% of the time instead of the standard 50% of the time.
