Re: Capital one New behavior

Does it cost a hard inq if you ask CapOne for CLI?

Re: Capital one New behavior

creditreformer,

I think you should ask for a CLI just before the 3rd statement cuts and the auto CLI will give you another CLI

I heard it does not, but i am not sure about it, others say Cap1 does not do hard inquire for CLI, I will confirm anyway when i put my report next week.

That is correct, they just look at the card history and how its being used. No Soft or hard pulls.

Re: Capital one New behavior

I was reading this thread and secided to call this number
((((Cap1: 800-889-9939 or 800-625-7866.(Account Specialist))))))
from the backdoor list to see if I can get a CLI.

I told the CRS that I got this card to build my credit a few months ago, got a $200 increase and that this month i was using 60% of my CL. I also said I will be using this card to make lots of purchases every month. He quickly raised the limit from $500 to $1000. Feel like i have accomplished something today. so for the month of June, got a total of $700 added to my meager $300. He said " the more you use the card, the higher we will raise your limit."

Thank you so much sr.

Re: Capital one New behavior

I'm in shock!! Just called Cap1 (backdoor) and got a $300 (whoopee!) CLI on my Platinum - that brings me to the grand limit of $1050. I hadn't bothered calling before, because I was under the impression they never ever increase CLs on Platinums after that measly 3-month increase for being good with your credit.

I actually wanted to find out if any kind of upgrade to a less dull card (no hassles cash, for example) might be possible, but got the 'not at this time' response - there's obviously certain offers available that they can give, and nothing beyond that.

I have to say the CSR I spoke to was absolutely great - infinitely better than any Cap1 CSR I've ever encountered! She mentioned that they are 'proactively' trying to make their cards more desirable to their customers and give them the features that they actually want. She was very very apologetic that they didn't have any upgrades to rewards cards 'available' for me, but seemed to think that it couldn't hurt to keep checking back as I am doing 'all the right things' and using my card in the way that they 'prefer' their customers to use them (and there was me thinking they preferred the ones who run up huge balances and pay a fortune in interest every month)... maybe the evil machine that controls who gets what with Cap1 will ensure that I never get a decent card off them, but she was very lovely and helpful nonetheless! My cap 1 started at 3k, I called before the 3rd statement for a CLI and they took it to 3750.  About a week later I received 500 for credit steps, taking it to 4250.

That card turns 6 months old in July -- and I'll call again!

Congrats on the CLI!

Same exact thing happen to me!

Re: Capital one New behavior

Hmmm...i wonder if I should try calling the back door number. When I called the main customer service number a few weeks ago, they denied me. I think the reason was because I wasn't using my card. Whatever the excuse was it didn't really make any sense. I have the letter at home. I think I might try to get my measly CL of $500 raised.
